Inspiring natural, happy, healthy families!

About The Writer January 17, 2011

Hi Readers/Fellow Bloggers/Cloth Diaper Enthusiasts!

My name’s Vanessa, and I work at the most awesome cloth diaper store ever (www.circleme.me).  If you’re not privy to what cloth diapering has become, then you probably find it odd that there could be an entire store devoted to it.  I, too, was once in the same boat.  Before I started working here, I figured they were just an outdated system consisting of slabs of flat cotton, dangerous pins and ugly rubber pants.  Turns out, like I’ve been known to be from time to time, I was wrong:

THAT is the cloth diaper of today and THAT is a cute tush.  And I’m sure the baby is adorable too.

Cloth diapering is currently just the beginning of my obsession with helping to nurture happy, healthy families.  I’m currently working my way toward’s a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy.  I have worked with children from all walks of life as a teacher, mentor and care-providor.  I do not, however, have any kids of my own yet, which some would find delightfully ironic that a chick with no kids can work in a store all about babies.  But bear with me here.

I’m writing this blog to share my opinions and experiences of being sort of “thrown in head first” to this wonderful world of cloth diapering and all things “Natural Family.”  I used the word “obsession” earlier and that’s pretty much what it is: I am consumed by the desire to help parents become closer to each other and closer to their children.  I have a lot of readings, class work, and personal experiences on which I base my posts about parenting choices, children and family dynamics.  I will NEVER claim to have all the answers, nor will I insist that my opinions are the be-all-end-all.  I hope that my opinions, while very strong, will encourage discussion and critical thinking when read.

So that’s about it.  Hope ya’ll enjoy! 🙂

Great blog Vanessa! I don’t find it ironic that a person without kids works at a baby store. I used to love working with kids and now that I have one, when I get out of the house I like to be far away from kids! Haha, slightly kidding.

Cloth diapering and all things natural are very popular up here in the Northwest. I am going to start making my own baby food next month and am so excited to be doing so!

    Keep up the great blog!

    xoxo
